Government schemes for women-led businesses

Where being a woman entrepreneur gets you better terms, in central and state schemes, with official sources.

There is no single scheme for women-owned businesses. Instead, several mainstream schemes give better terms when the enterprise is owned by a woman. Our full guide explains how to use them.

CGTMSE: 90% guarantee for women entrepreneurs

What it offers
Collateral-free loans with 90% guarantee coverage for women entrepreneurs (75% for "all other" borrowers) and a 10% discount on the annual guarantee fee.
Who it is for
Women-owned micro and small enterprises borrowing from member lenders.

PMEGP special category

What it offers
Women pay 5% of project cost (instead of 10%) and get a 25% urban or 35% rural subsidy (instead of 15% or 25%).
Who it is for
Women starting a new micro enterprise.

ZED certification: extra 10%

What it offers
An additional 10% subsidy on certification cost for MSMEs owned by women, on top of 80%, 60% or 50% for micro, small or medium.
Who it is for
Women-owned, Udyam-registered MSMEs.

Public procurement: 3% for women-owned MSEs

What it offers
3% of central government annual procurement is earmarked for MSEs owned by women, within the 25% MSE target.

Women-owned micro and small enterprises selling to government.

Stand-Up India

Status: Ran up to 31 Mar 2025. A new scheme with loans up to ₹2 crore for first-time women, SC and ST entrepreneurs was announced in Budget 2025-26 and is still being prepared.

What it offers
Bank loans of ₹10 lakh–₹1 crore for greenfield projects by SC, ST and women entrepreneurs.
Who it is for
Women entrepreneurs above 18 starting a first enterprise.

Maharashtra CMEGP: special category

Status: The state page lists scheme dates of 01/08/2019–31/03/2024. Check maha-cmegp.gov.in for whether applications are open.

What it offers
Women are in the special category: 25% subsidy in urban and 35% in rural areas, for new units up to ₹50 lakh (manufacturing) or ₹20 lakh (services).
Who it is for
Women starting a new unit in Maharashtra.

Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026: women entrepreneurs

What it offers
An additional 1% interest subsidy and rental assistance of 75% of rent paid, up to ₹3 lakh a year for five years.
Who it is for
Women entrepreneurs in Gujarat.
