Government schemes for agri-businesses and FPOs

Support for farmer producer organisations, agri-entrepreneurs and post-harvest infrastructure, from the Ministry of Agriculture, MoFPI and NHB.

For agri-businesses, the strongest support goes to collective and post-harvest projects. If you are a farmer group, forming or joining an FPO unlocks several of these schemes.

Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs

Status: PIB says the target of 10,000 registered FPOs has been reached (as of 31 Dec 2025). Equity grant and credit guarantee support continue for these FPOs.

What it offers
Up to ₹18 lakh per FPO over three years for management, a matching equity grant of up to ₹2,000 per farmer member (maximum ₹15 lakh per FPO), and a credit guarantee for project loans of up to ₹2 crore per FPO.
Who it is for
Farmer producer organisations formed under the scheme.

Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF)

What it offers
Loans with 3% a year interest subvention for post-harvest management and community farming assets (storage, processing, value addition). Credit guarantee for loans up to ₹2 crore through CGTMSE and NABSanrakshan.
Who it is for
Farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, agri-entrepreneurs and startups building post-harvest infrastructure.

NHB cold storage subsidy

What it offers
35% of project cost in general areas and 45% in special areas, up to ₹2 crore per project. Circular amended 21 Aug 2026.
Who it is for
Entrepreneurs and FPOs building cold storage for horticulture produce.

PMKSY cold chain and agro-processing clusters

Status: Works through calls for proposals. Check mofpi.gov.in.

What it offers
Grants of 35% (50% for difficult areas, SC/ST beneficiaries, FPOs and SHGs), up to ₹10 crore per project.
Who it is for
FPOs, cooperatives, SHGs and firms.

Operation Greens

What it offers
35–50% assistance, up to ₹15 crore (integrated) or ₹10 crore (standalone) per project.
Who it is for
FPOs and processors in production clusters.

PM-KUSUM solar pumps

Status: Check your state agency for open allocations.

What it offers
30% central support for solar pumps (50% in NE, hill and island states/UTs), with state support on top in most states.
